There’s still time to support the new issue of Underground Kingdom Comix collective’s anthology, Underground Kingdom Comix Presents: Fantasy.
Each issue, some of Britain’s most exciting small-press cartoonists tackle a particular genre; this time it’s Fantasy. This new issue, seeking backing here on Kickstarter, features cover art by Samuel Hickson, stories by Jonny Brokenbrow, Harry Dean Willmott and Matt Simmons, and pin ups by Josh Hicks and Ethan Llewellyn.
Jonny Brokenbrow is an artist and cartoonist based in Tring, the creator of Stone Power, Full Mantis and Dolmen Dispatch.
Josh Hicks is a Welsh cartoonist and filmmaker based in Cardiff, whose comics work includes Hotelitor: Luxury-class Defense and Hospitality Unit and Glorious Wrestling Alliance.
Samuel Hickson is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist, creator of the dark comedy anthology series, Liquid Realm.
Ethan Llewellyn is a 22-year old-cartoonist from Bristol who creates another one man anthology, Naff Comix, now in its third issue.
Matt Simmons is an indie comic creator, obscene zine maker and proprietor of the Lancaster-based small press comic shop, Zine Freak. His books include the sci-fi comedy comic, Mukbang.
Harry Deane Willmott is a Lancaster-based cartoonist, “the only goblin diagnosed with IBS that makes comics too”. His other works include 2000 ADHD, a one man anthology set in North West England, and Subscribe, a small vlogger (viewer wise) in questionable underwear, who gains the attention of two friends.

Underground Kingdom Comix is a collective of UK based small press cartoonists. Scattered across the UK, they share the influences of 1990s alternative comics and a DIY aesthetic; writing, drawing and publishing their own work. They explore mature themes, and their indivIdual experiences of living in Britain.
In 2023, they decided to join together to share resources and information. It wasn’t long before they started collaborating in the form of an anthology: Underground Kingdom Comix Presents.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
