Vegius Launches $120K Crowdfunding Campaign for App That Could "Revolutionize Plant-Based Travel" - vegconomist - the vegan business magazine

Vegius, an app that aims to connect plant-based travel and lifestyle enthusiasts with vegan options across the globe, has announced a crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. The team behind the app, which was previously called The Vegan Stay, hopes to raise $120,000.

Powered by AI, Vegius already offers accommodation in over 30 countries and can provide personalized deals and suggestions. The team hopes to expand this significantly, making it easier for vegans and vegetarians to find accommodation, eateries, and experiences that align with their values.

The app also helps small vegan businesses to gain more exposure. Additionally, for every booking made through the app, up to 50% of fees collected are donated to animal sanctuaries. Currently, Vegius has partnerships with 125 sanctuaries across 40 countries.

Catering to diverse needs

Early investors in the app will benefit from equity ownership at notable discounts, with the potential for significant returns as the business grows. They will also gain early access to app features, along with exclusive rewards such as premium app subscriptions, VIP event invitations, and branded merchandise.

The funding will be used to expand existing features, add new features that improve user experience,  implement advanced marketing strategies, and support initiatives to create a plant-based dining community.

“We aim to revolutionize vegan travel and lifestyle. Our platform caters to the community’s diverse needs,” said Vegius founder Faik Bouhrik.

A changing industry

While the travel industry has been relatively slow to cater to plant-based travelers, things are beginning to change. Some hotels are offering vegan rooms, while cruise lines are rolling out vegan menus.

Many airlines have also started offering plant-based dishes on board, with Emirates revealing earlier this year that it has a “vault” of at least 300 vegan recipes. The airline said it served 450,000 vegan meals in 2023, up from 280,000 in 2022.

“Vegius is more than an app — it’s a movement. With your support, we can transform the landscape of vegan living and animal welfare. Let’s create this change together,” says Vegius on its Wefunder page.
