COUNCIL HAS ADVANCED A BILL AIMED AT ENSURING THE CITY IS FULLY COMPENSATED FOR ECONOMIC LOSSES STEMMING FROM THE KEY BRIDGE COLLAPSE. THAT BILL WAS INTRODUCED DURING TONIGHT’S MEETING AND IF APPROVED, IT WOULD GIVE THE CITY SOLICITOR THE POWER TO IDENTIFY ANY LOSSES AND ESTABLISH THE RULES AND REGULATIONS WHEN IT COMES TO SECURING REIMBURSEMENTS FROM RESPONSIBLE PARTIES, CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT NICK MOSBY SAYS THIS BILL PUTS BALTIMORE IN THE BEST POSITION TO REBOUND FROM THE DEADLY TRAGEDY. NOW, OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS, UM, SOME RESPONSIBLE PARTIES, AND THIS PUTS THE CITY IN THE BEST POSITION TO ENSURE THAT ONE, WE GO AFTER AND PROVIDE, UM, A SUITABLE REMEDY TO WHAT TOOK PLACE. UH, BUT ALSO IN HOPES THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WILL NEVER, EVER OCCUR IN THE CITY OF BALTIMORE. WELL, DURING TONIGHT’S MEETING, COUNCIL PRESIDENT MOSBY MADE IT A POINT TO TELL COUNCIL MEMBERS

The Baltimore City Council advanced a bill aimed at ensuring the city is fully compensated for economic losses stemming from the Key Bridge collapse.If approved, the bill introduced at Monday’s meeting would give the city solicitor the power to identify any losses and establish the rules and regulations when it comes to securing reimbursements from responsible parties.City Council President Nick Mosby said the bill puts Baltimore in the best position to rebound from the bridge collapse.”Obviously, there is some responsible parties, and this puts the city in the best position to ensure that one, we go after and provide a suitable remedy to what took place, but also in hopes that something like this will never, ever occur in the City of Baltimore,” Mosby said.Mosby told councilmembers to make an effort to follow the bill as it moves through committee.
